Yum, thanks a Latte Anni! Anni, the owner of Small Town Coffee in Kapaa, Kauai, is an award-winning barista. I was immediately impressed with her skills and personality. A good shop owner should care about the customer and what they can do to build loyalty, which promotes frequency and free advertising. As usual, I asked what she recommended. I instantly saw her wheels turning and she quickly suggested a latte. I didn’t ask for the design, nor expect it. What I received was a delicious work of art that put a smile on my face. Who doesn’t love to eat or drink attractive fare? Her leaf design lasted down to the very last sip.
Small Town Coffee purchases organic coffee from ”fair trade growers”. What does this mean? Fair trade coffee is purchased directly from the growers for a higher price than standard coffee. Fair trade coffee is one of many fair trade certified products available around the world. The purpose of fair trade is to promote healthier and safer working conditions and greater economic incentives for the producers.
The shop was very clean and had an edgy-rustic decor. There were tables and free WiFi available to sit and enjoy your beverage with breakfast or lunch. I was immediately greeted and offered assistance upon entrance. I felt my friendly barista was very knowledgeable and truly wanted to please me.
The latte, as mentioned earlier, was perfectly poured (as expected, since she earlier quipped that she won an award for her barista skills) and was at a comfortable temperature that lasted to the end. The texture was smooth and creamy, with the slightest hint of sweetness. The espresso packed a flavorful punch with freshness and brightness.
I’d say my was coffee was a 10/10. The view out the back wasn’t as pleasing as the ocean view across the street, but a place worth visiting and from what I’ve read in other reviews, the food is wonderful too. Thanks again Anni.
